Furniture designers like John J. Wegner Ones said; A chair is to have no rear. It should be beautiful from all sides and angles. The country seems to breed some of the most innovative furniture design and never mind the whole world can take the sun in the luxury that these men and women produce. Simple lines and minimalist style that didn 't lose functionality was the kind of furniture that John J. Wegner preferred design. On April 2, 1914 born to a shoemaker and his wife, Wegner worked as a carpenter 's apprentice boy from a very young age. He served a mandatory military time required country of Denmark before going on to technical college and then to the school of arts and crafts. He followed this with time in the architectural academy in Copenhagen and even his earliest designs of furniture – no doubt done for his college classes – show the minimalist style he became known for. Pure A highly intelligent designer who understood the value of networking in the late 30's and 40s, Wegner attended many shows during their college years. When he graduated from college, Arne Jacobsen, another well-known Danish designer furniture hired him in the drawing office and the same assignment was to draw the furniture for the new City Hall in Aarhus that Jacobsen would design. He went on to start his own company and partnered with Borge Mogensen, Erik Kold drawing furniture for FDB Danish chain of grocery. This furniture – cheap but high quality – made possible its way into the international market. As Wegner 's designs are rooted in the world, he began working with DB Mobler, the company that still has his designs today and he designed almost exclusively in later years. Its famous ring chair that was designed in 1965 was produced by Mobler in 1985, crafted entirely of wood and not with the steel base Wegner originally thought. In addition, Wegner designed to John Hansen, Carl Handen &; amp; Son, Fritz Hansen, Getama, Fredericia Stolefabrik and more over the years. It was only within the last ten years Wegner 's life that he stopped designing furniture and 93 years of Wegner was alive, he designed over 500 chairs. Wegner disappeared on 26 January 2007 and his furniture is still available on the market today. He won almost every honor and award major design through his career and was made an honorary royal designer for industry by the Royal Society of Arts in London, England. Many of Wegner 's pieces are found in museums around the world including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, NY, America, and die Neue Samlung, Munich, Germany, and twenty other museums.
