You can try first looking through interior design magazines and mark out the ones that you like. Everyone has a preference for a certain style (country, classic/traditional, minimalist, urban, ethnic, eclectic…), as well as combination of color schemes. Then based upon your preferences, you can examine why you like a certain style. Then imagine that you are now transfering this style to your living space.
You may wish to consider whether you are going to use existing furniture or purchase new ones. If you have specific items that you need to work with, it is best to consider a style that you can comfortably and stylistically integrate with pieces that you already own.
One suggestion is to maintain consistency in style and color scheme between all the rooms, to give the house a greater sense of coherence. This will also increase the resell value of your house, in case you want to “redesign” it to make it more attractive to potential buyers.
