Interior Decorating Ideas
FaZizzle asked:

We have a in our basement (around 4′ by 5′) with white on the bottom half. I’m the upperhalf a green color (looks less neon and more nice green) and am planning on putting a with as (the for it all).

I need some art to put on the walls, but I don’t know where to go with it. I’ve been looking at istockphotos.com to see if there were some that would work, but I’m not 100% sold on just putting a picture of a fruit on my wall. I’m thinking it may look a bit…fruity (babam ching!).

Any ideas?

We’re not wanting to spend too terribly much – under $50. Yeah, we’re limited. We’re . WOO!

Any ideas on how to make it look…nice?
I will try to add a picture in a few hours – it’s time for bathtime for my toddler and baby. WOO!

why dont you try going around stores and shop for some picture frames. you might find something really nice for a low price. Maybe at a discount store, like burlington coat factory, marhalls, or ross. it may help.

I don’t think I’d use photo’s of fruit in my bathroom. You can put daisy’s with lemon’s and can even use some large silk daisy’s to attach to the wall (just use small dots of velcro and there’s no damage to the wall).

You could also do some stenciling on your wall – maybe around the mirror or around the whole top near the ceiling.

Paint a pretty basket that will hold magazines a bright yellow and add a bow.

i don’t know that i would add too many pictures or anything to the bathroom. It IS a bathroom, and therefore should not be overdecorated. I like the idea of lemons, but don’t overdo the whole ‘fruit’ idea with adding a fruity picture. Instead, look at the colors you are using in the room (you mention the green, and now you mentioned the yellow of the lemons, so also look at your tile, cabinets, etc.) and i would suggest a very generic scene such as a meadow, floral, seascape, etc. that matches these colors as you do not want pictures/painting to add new colors into your sceme in most cases. Black and white photos/paintings are also an excellent idea. But don’t overdo it… i’m thinking only one or two, if that. if you aren’t stuck on the whole ‘painting/picture’ idea, you might want to try thinking about doing a artistic mirror arrangement on the wall using like three mirrors that have borderes most likely matching any cabinetry. you could also do hanging vases that mount on the wall and put in fake flowers (possibly a dull red color, or change them up every season). you don’t want to overdo decoration in a bathroom, but you do want it to be cozy, so you might consider candles or even mounted candles on the wall that you could get with an intricate dark metal design behind them at such places as jc penny, kohls, pier 1, and pottery barn. they have great examples of all the previous suggestions i mentioned.

good luck and have fun with it!! you spend more time in the bathroom than you could imagine so don’t wimp out on this :)!

I think a black and white photo of a nature scene would look nice (with what you described)… good luck! maybe a silver or black frame…

Theres alot of moisture in a bathroom, so you’ll have to be careful what kind of pictures you put in. What if you put a decorative shelf or mirror instead? or maybe some sort of decortive metal or wood thing? the shape of a tree maybe?

My bathroom is grey and white and yellow and my accents are daisies. But… wandering around in a cute little shop on Mackinac Island I found a really cool black and white print of an old bicycle leaning against a picket fence. There are some flowers and plantings against the fence and the bike has a big basket on the handlebars with what looks like moss and flowers in it. I bought the print and put it in a silver frame and put it in my bathroom. Love it there. Then, recently I took a yellow sharpie marker and colored over only the stuff in the basket on the bike. So the whole print is black and white, except for the yellow in the basket. It goes great in my bathroom.

Get creative. I agree that a fruit painting would be overkill. I think a black and white print would look great with the lime green and yellow. Look around at places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Steinmart, Big Lots, Burlington, Wal-Mart. You just may find some cute little picture that will fit the bill perfectly for not much money. How about an Ansel Adams print? One of his simpler ones, like the tree in the meadow at Yosemite or the Joshua tree. You don’t have to have fruit or sea shells or flowers just because it’s your bathroom. You could even take a nice black and white photo of your toddler (and baby) in the bathtub, frame it and hang it in the bathroom. Or a black and white photo of a favorite pet. Or a black and white close up photo of any flower or weed in your back yard. Every room should have something you love in it and something that says you. Wish I could take you shopping! :)

i think since you are using brighter colors for main colors maybe you should use black, white or both. maybe go with a circle theme since the lemons are kind of circular shaped.
